Description
Finest historical shell cameo brooch with pendant eye, worked in yellow gold 585 / 14 (tested and guaranteed).
The cameo set in gold bears an effigy of the goddess Hera, one of the twelve Olympioi, sister and wife of Zeus and daughter of Cronus and Rhea. The goddess is depicted with her typical hairstyle, her hair gathered upwards with a hair band, looking stern and majestic in profile to the right.
The frame setting decorated with spiral wire of gold completes the design very well.
A back pin with C-hook clasp allows the brooch to be attached to clothing. With an eyelet it can be worn as a pendant as well.
The antique jewelry piece was created around 1880 and is a wonderful example of antique reception in historicism.
