Art Déco
Stylistic period between approx. 1920-1940; name derived from French arts décoratifs (decorative arts). The design language of Art Déco was characterised by geometric-abstract, avant-garde elements, intense contrasts and compositions that often appeared tectonic. White metals were preferred, especially platinum and, somewhat later, white gold.
