Bauhaus
Art (and crafts) school founded in Weimar in 1919 by Walter Gropius. The Bauhaus had a major influence on jewellery production of its time, which was dedicated to the Bauhaus ideals of reduction to geometric forms and a previously unknown, pure abstraction. Bauhaus-style jewellery is characterised, among other things, by experiments with new materials (chrome, plastics, etc.) and a certain machine aesthetic, free of picturesqueness.
