Charivari
Type of men's jewellery worn with traditional costume. Consisting of a sturdy chain adorned with numerous pendants, hunting trophies and/or coins, which is fastened to the bib of the lederhosen with two side clasps (often spring rings). Originally worn as an expression of identity and belonging to a particular region or community.
The catchy name ‘Charivari’ comes from French and roughly means ‘noise’ or ‘clamour’, which alludes to the loud sounds produced by the chain and its pendants with every movement.
