Crest

Also known as a ‘helmet crest’; a component of the coat of arms. A decorative finial attached to (knight’s) helmets. In heraldry, the crest serves primarily to distinguish coats of arms with identical shields. Together with the helmet and the shield, it forms the respective coat of arms.
