Snake/Serpent
Symbol of life, renewal and immortality (moulting) as well as the eternal cycle of becoming and passing away (Ouroboros). In the Middle Ages, these positive perceptions changed and the snake came to be seen primarily as a symbol of evil, seduction and danger. To this day, it remains a highly ambiguous symbol, but in jewellery it mainly has positive connotations.
