Synthetic gemstone
Gemstones that have not formed naturally but have been created through human intervention. They are imitations of natural gemstones, but their crystal structure as well as physical and chemical properties are largely identical to those of natural gemstones. They are produced using various technical processes, including the Verneuil process, and became particularly popular in the early decades of the 20th century.
