Glossary
Archaeological style
Movement of the 19th century in which jewellery production was strongly influenced by ancient Greek, Roman and Etruscan jewellery examples from antiquity. Not only motifs and designs, but also ancient goldsmithing techniques were adopted and, in some cases, reinterpreted; see also Castellani.
