Lavalière Necklace
Also known as négligé necklace; delicate, sometimes bow-shaped pendant with two (different length) gemstone-set pendulums. Particularly popular around 1900 (Edwardian era or rather Belle Époque). The name comes from Louise de La Vallière, a mistress of Louis XIV, who influenced the court fashion of the time with loosely tied bows and dangling necklaces. Contrary to today's understanding, the term négligé indicates that this was daytime jewellery.
