Mourning jewellery
Sentimental jewellery, which dates back to an 18th-century movement known as Empfindsamkeit (sensitivity) and had a major influence on people's attitudes towards life at that time. This lived sentimentality led to jewellery with emotional content or background; e.g. Remember-Me rings, depictions of eyes (so-called "lovers' eyes"), jewellery made from hair, depictions of antique-style tombs or sentimental symbols such as two hands reaching out to each other (mani in fede), acronym rings, or the Ouroboros motif.
