Lover's Eyes
Miniature paintings in the shape of an eye; often found on brooches, rings, pendants/medallions. Eye miniatures were worn in the 18th century as friendship jewellery or proof of love (sometimes also as mourning jewellery). They are often found in combination with a (hidden) compartment that could contain a lock of the beloved's hair.
