Over the past six decades, silver jewellery has enjoyed great popularity, so that today we can enjoy a comprehensive range of vintage silver jewellery.

As a precious metal, silver offers the best conditions for making jewellery and is characterised by its bright shine, strength and corrosion resistance. There are therefore virtually no limits to the ideas of jewellery designers and silversmiths, which has led to ever new, extravagant and unconventional designs. Today, large vintage silver jewellery can be worn as a real eye-catcher and combined for numerous occasions.

Vintage silver chains and necklaces

Silver chains and necklaces are an absolute all-rounder and have been popular and in demand in every era. In the Fifties, they were an inexpensive yet high-quality alternative to classic gold jewellery. In the Sixties, fashion and jewellery became more experimental, leading to exciting jewellery designs that impressed with strong contrasts, extravagant gemstones and deconstructed shapes.

Unusual structures, geometric elements and reliefs were also found in vintage silver jewellery from the 1970s, when necklaces were worn large and opulent. In the hippie era, several long necklaces were often worn on top of each other. Silver and brightly coloured gemstones such as turquoise often stood in attractive contrast to each other and were also used in men's jewellery.

In the last decades of the 20th century, silver necklaces were worn shorter again. Heavy curb chains or necklaces with soft, voluminous links were absolute highlights of the 1980s. After that, silver was also used for beautiful statement necklaces with interesting surfaces and combinations of gemstones or reinterpreted classic chain structures such as cord, brick or snake patterns.
