Description
Rare handcrafted ring with antique intaglio in 916 / 22 K gold (stamped and guaranteed).
This unusual and particularly beautiful and heavy ring is set with an antique intaglio of deep red carnelian, depicting a cupbearer pouring wine or oil from a large amphora into a jug. This scene, popular in ancient depictions, represents a symposium (communal, social drinking) or a ritual act. Occasionally, similar depictions can also be found in the context of Dionysus, the god of wine.
The setting and the ring band were handcrafted in high-quality 22-karat gold around 1950 and decorated in an archaeological antique style with fine cord soldering and volute motifs.
This special ring is not only a sought-after collector's item for lovers of ancient Greek motifs, it is also a timelessly elegant piece of jewellery that can be combined for many occasions thanks to the beautiful, fine goldsmith work and the finely carved intaglio.
