Fine historical Akoya cultured pearl necklace from the 1930s with a clasp in yellow and white gold 585 / 14 ct (stamped and guaranteed).
The classic necklace consists of a row of Akoya cultured pearls knotted in a graduated pattern with a fine cream-coloured lustre. The filigree box clasp, which is typical of the period, is adorned with a decorative white gold overlay and set with another pearl in the centre.
The classic Akoya cultured pearl necklace was created around 1930 and is one of the early Akoya cultured pearls, which were just becoming established in the jewellery trade around this time after the Japanese Mikimoto invented them in the early 20th century. The necklace has a simple elegance that makes it suitable for both everyday and festive evening wear.
