Description
Beautiful, period-typical Art Nouveau necklace with colorful window enamel, crafted from 585/14 kt yellow gold (stamped and guaranteed).
The pendant of this enchanting necklace consists of polished gold bars that combine to form a geometrically abstract motif. Red and blue window enamel was inlaid between the bars, giving the pendant the appearance of a miniature church stained-glass window. The translucency and the resulting color effects characterize the window enamel technique (French: plique à jour), which was frequently used in Art Nouveau jewelry.
The pretty pendant also features two delicate seed pearls and two light blue oval-cut aquamarines totaling ca. 1.0 carats, which beautifully complement the motif and provide a three-dimensional effect and a distinctive sparkle.
The pendant is connected to a later, subtle Figaro chain via two lateral volutes. It is also made of 585/14 kt rose gold (stamped and guaranteed) and fastens with a spring ring.
This antique necklace was created around 1910 and is an exemplary example of Art Nouveau, whose ornamentation combines organic nature, abstraction, and geometry into a work of art.
