Wonderful historical necklace set with Australian opals, tsavorites and diamonds, crafted from platinum and 625/15 carat yellow gold (tested and guaranteed).
An oval opal cabochon sits on a platinum anchor chain, framed by four round-faceted, luminous tsavorites (green garnets). The tsavorites weigh a total of ca. 0.52 carats. Two platinum pendants extend from this, set with a total of five rose-cut diamonds (ca. 0.16 carats in total). Another oval opal cabochon swings at the bottom. Both opals come from Australia, have a combined stone weight of ca. 4.08 carats and are characterised by a wonderful play of colours. All coloured stones are set in yellow gold, which creates a beautiful harmony with the cool tone of the platinum chains.
The platinum chain is securely fastened at the back of the neck with a classic spring ring.
Australian opals were a prized element of English jewellery art at the turn of the century around 1900. Their natural play of colour was considered ideal for the organically flowing forms of this era. Often used in rings, pendants and brooches, they were intended to convey elegance, mysticism and individuality.
This necklace was created in London around 1915 and is a characteristic example of the jewellery designs of this era, which are characterised by timeless elegance.
