Description
Traditional vintage charivari from Lake Tegernsee, with seven pendants, made entirely of silver (stamped, tested and guaranteed).
Seven decorative pendants or hunting trophies hang from a round curb chain: a silver bull, a pair of grandeln in a corded setting, a marten's teeth, a large solid silver wild boar, a roe deer, a lynx ear and a small silver dachshund.
The charivari is attached to the leather trousers via two large spring rings.
The traditional charivari originated around 1950 and comes from the Tegernsee region. It is a classic men's accessory for traditional costume, which originally served its wearer as a status symbol and talisman for a successful hunt. The charivari has its roots in the 19th century and is particularly widespread in the Bavarian and Austrian Alpine regions.
Total length of the charivari: 32.5 cm.
Length of the pendants (including eyelet): ca. 1.8 - 9.5 cm.
Weight: 124.4 grams.
Condition: Very nice vintage condition, one spring ring newly added, freshly cleaned, see photos.
The charivari comes lovingly packaged in one of our high-quality cases and with a certificate of authenticity.
Please note: Vintage and antique jewellery are worn items that may show slight signs of wear due to their history.
