A very beautiful antique charivari from Austria, with seven pendants, all crafted from 750 and 800/835 silver (hallmarked and guaranteed).
Seven decorative pendants, or hunting trophies, hang from a sturdy round curb chain: a double fox hook, a roe deer antler tip, a large roe deer hoof, stag beetle antlers set in silver, a deer beard, two small badger beards, and a shark tooth.
All pendants are attached to the chain via beautiful settings made of 800 and 835 silver, decorated with oak leaves and fine engravings.
The necklace is fastened to the leather pants via a large spring ring and a smaller carabiner.
The historic charivari originated in Austria around 1910 and is a classic men’s accessory for traditional attire, originally serving as a status symbol and talisman for a successful hunt. The charivari has its roots in the 19th century and is particularly common in the Bavarian and Austrian Alpine regions.
