Description
Enchanting historic brooch made of 585 / 14 Kt tri-color gold (assayed and guaranteed) with a beautiful Ceylon sapphire.
This delicate brooch consists of a gold band with a tri-color finish that resembles a fabric ribbon and is arranged in realistic folds. Thanks to its grained surface, the ribbon shimmers gently in the light and is held together by a gold pin, the head of which is set with a precious Ceylon sapphire. Ceylon sapphires come from Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon) and are particularly popular due to their color—the coveted cornflower blue.
The round-faceted sapphire weighs ca. 0.2 carats and adds a wonderfully luminous splash of color.
A C-hook clasp on the back secures the piece to clothing. Additionally, the brooch features a safety chain in an anchor pattern.
This antique brooch was created around 1910 and reflects the era’s preference for ribbon and bow motifs, which were crafted in gold or platinum and richly set with diamonds. This brooch embodies an everyday version of the so-called garland style and is therefore still wonderfully wearable today!
Dimensions of the brooch (excluding the pendant): 4.8 x 0.8 cm.
Diameter of the Ceylon sapphire: ca. 3.6 mm, ca. 0.2 ct.
Weight: 7.0 grams.
Condition: Very good condition, freshly cleaned; see photos.
You will receive the brooch lovingly packaged in one of our lovely cases and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
Please note: Vintage and antique jewelry are pre-owned items that may show slight signs of wear due to their history.
