Description
Antique Viennese lucky charm/chatelaine made of 835 silver (stamped and guaranteed) with charming enamel decoration.
This interesting piece of jewellery was originally worn as a chatelaine pendant for a pocket watch and follows in the tradition of the so-called beer charm, which emerged at the beginning of the 19th century and was often carried on a watch chain so that it was always at hand. Such a beer chain was attached to the handle of the beer mug to avoid confusion when refilling.
This watch chain consists of a solid snap hook from which an elegantly crafted centre piece in a grain de riz pattern extends. The end of the piece is adorned with a charming pendant featuring a green enamelled cloverleaf. Behind the lucky clover is a small compartment where personal souvenirs or photos can be stored.
This charming watch chain was created in Vienna around 1910. It is a sought-after collector's item that can be worn by both men and women today and can be attached not only to a chatelaine, but also to a handbag, trousers or key ring, for example. The four-leaf clover makes this piece of jewellery a wonderful gift, lucky charm or talisman.
