Rare earrings with historical lava cameos, crafted from gold-plated silver and tombac (tested and guaranteed).
Each earring is set with an oval lava cameo featuring an antique-style portrait of a lady. The cameos are securely set in gold-plated tombac bezels. The hook fastenings, including the clasps, are made of gold-plated silver.
The cut lava stones have different shades and come in warm brown and beige tones.
The historical lava cameos were created around 1890 in Italy and were a popular souvenir of the so-called Grand Tour in the 19th century: educational trips to southern Italy – especially to the archaeological sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum – were extremely popular and significant stages of these excursions, which were often documented with a souvenir.
