An exceptional historic enamel pendant made of gold-plated brass, accompanied by a long chain of gold-plated 925 silver (stamped, tested, and guaranteed).
This exceptionally large and beautiful gold-plated brass pendant consists of three articulated elements: a circle at the bottom, a slightly smaller curved central section, and an elongated decorative element reminiscent of an amphora.
The piece's special appeal lies in its intricate enamel work: flowing floral ornaments in shades of blue, turquoise, brown, and red are framed by white enamel, creating a particularly striking effect. Interesting color transitions are also visible, adding a lively quality to the design.
The pendant hangs from a sturdy sterling silver cable chain (a modern addition). A practical lobster clasp ensures it is comfortable and secure to wear.
The pendant features *champlevé* enamel work (also known in German as *Grubenschmelz*). In this technique, the areas to be filled with enamel are recessed into the base material through engraving, scraping, or etching. The resulting metal ridges form the dividing lines between the individual color fields and motifs.
Unlike the *cloisonné* technique, where fine metal wires are soldered onto the surface, here the dividing lines are carved directly out of the metal itself. Their varying widths lend added vibrancy and depth to the decoration.
