Description
Rare classicist ring with emerald and diamonds, crafted from yellow gold 585 / 14 ct (tested and guaranteed).
The ring head is set in the center with an oval emerald of approx. 1.1 carat in a facet cut. The green precious stone is foiled from below in the setting, typical of the time, and is flanked on each side by two diamond roses, which together make up a stone weight of approx. 0.25 carats. A stylized feather motif in the upper part of the fluted gold ring shank rounds off the design, typical of the period.
In the 17th to 19th centuries, gemstones were foiled, i.e. colored iridescent metal foils were placed in the settings closed at the bottom to give the gemstones more color intensity. This common technique is used here.
This beautiful ring was created around 1800 and speaks the formal and material language of classicism!
