Exquisite and rare Belle Époque diamond earrings, crafted from 585 / 14-carat yellow gold and platinum (assayed and guaranteed).
A teardrop-shaped frame, adorned with millegriffes and set with six diamond roses on each side, hangs from sturdy hinged clasps set with three old European cut diamonds. Set within the finely crafted frame, a wonderfully sparkling old European cut diamond of ca. 0.3 carats each, of very good quality (I-J, VS1-VS2), hangs freely in the centre. The total carat weight of all the diamonds is ca. 1.1 carats.
These particularly beautiful earrings were created around 1910 and reflect the joie de vivre of that era, which went down in history as the ‘Belle Époque’, the so-called ‘beautiful era’. It is renowned for elegant jewellery craftsmanship and glamorous jewellery designs, which, as with these earrings, were often crafted from yellow gold and transformed into so-called ‘white jewellery’ by applying a layer of platinum to the top – a style that reflected the tastes of the time and remains exceptionally elegant and timeless to this day.
