2 round faceted garnets, ca. 2.0 mm in diameter.
Description
Delicate historical earrings with opal and garnet, made of 585/14-carat gold (tested and guaranteed).
A beautiful oval opal cabochon of 0.1 carat each with a wonderful, delicate play of colours sits on front-opening prongs, so-called Viennese prongs. They are framed by curved, narrow bars and each flanked by a small, round faceted garnet in a vibrant shade of red.
Small, discreet earrings that sit close to the ear are also known as dormeuse earrings. The name of the earrings is derived from the French verb ‘dormir’ (= to sleep), as small earrings that sit close to the earlobe can also be worn while sleeping. Dormeuse earrings became particularly fashionable towards the end of the 19th century.
These enchanting earrings were created around 1900 and can still be combined in a variety of ways today thanks to their understated, delicate design
