Description
A beautiful and rare Art Nouveau necklace dating from around 1900, set with a sapphire and a natural pearl, crafted from 585 / 14 carat yellow gold (hallmarked and guaranteed).
Attached to a delicate anchor chain is a freely swinging pendant typical of the period, which displays the characteristic design features of Art Nouveau: flowing, curved lines and stylised organic bridges create an elegant, stylised floral shape, set at the centre with a delicate blue, oval sapphire cabochon of ca. 0.6 carats. A delicate, white natural pearl forms the lower hanging end.
A practical push-lock clasp allows the necklace to be put on and taken off easily and securely.
This wonderful necklace was created around 1900. The Art Nouveau period of that time was characterised by a turn towards motifs from the animal and plant worlds, reflecting a longing for nature in a society increasingly shaped by industrialisation. The imaginative jewellery designs of that era remain highly sought-after to this day and are often of exquisite, timeless beauty.
