A wonderful antique medallion pendant set with Old European Cut diamonds, crafted from 750 / 18 Kt gold (assayed and guaranteed).
This solidly crafted antique medallion in yellow gold is set on the front with nine Old European Cut diamonds totalling ca. 0.2 carats (H-I, VS2-SI1). The arrangement of the diamonds is reminiscent of the dice symbol for the number five. Delicate diagonal engravings further emphasise the austere, graphic design.
The rim of the medallion is also delicately engraved, depicting a belt with a loop and a buckle. In the jewellery of bygone eras, the belt symbolises friendship and love, as it connects and holds things together where they might otherwise come apart.
The jewellery’s opening mechanism is exceptional: pressing the ‘belt buckle’ causes the lid to spring open, revealing the interior, which offers space for a small memento or a photograph.
