A large Bavarian charivari with seven pendants, all crafted from 800 silver (hallmarked and guaranteed).
Seven decorative pendants hang from a wide, ornately designed chain: a three-dimensional silver boar’s head, a Maria Theresa taler framed by a cord (later minting), a chamois horn, a crowned Maltese cross in fine silver filigree (modelled on historical badges of honour from the Order of the Knights of Malta), an eagle’s claw, five Deutsche Mark coins bearing the effigy of Emperor Wilhelm II, and a miniature silver wild boar.
The charivari is fastened to the traditional costume via two carabiner clasps of different sizes.
This traditional piece of jewellery was created around 1930 and embodies classic Bavarian custom: originally, charivaris were not worn solely as decorative ornaments, but served as status symbols and talismans for the owner’s successful hunts.
