Distinctive earrings with historical lava cameos, crafted from gold-plated silver and tombac (tested and guaranteed).
The earrings are each set with an oval, beautifully cut lava cameo with an antique portrait of a lady.
The cameos sit in secure bezel settings made from tombac and are complemented by long hook earrings including clasp hooks made from gold-plated silver.

The historical earrings were created in Italy around 1860 and were a popular souvenir of the so-called Grand Tour in the 19th century: educational trips to the south of Italy and in particular to the excavation sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum were extremely popular and meaningful stages of these excursions, which were often documented with a souvenir.
