Description
Early Evald Nielsen Art Nouveau brooch with amber stones, crafted from silver 830 (stamped 830S and workshop hallmark by SL Jacobsen).
This magnificent Art Nouveau brooch with two opposing flower motifs is beautifully sculpted in shiny silver. A honey-yellow amber cabochon serves as the center of each flower. Despite its impressive size, the brooch is light due to its hollow design and can be easily attached with a pin.
The brooch was made in Denmark around 1910 to a design by Evald Nielsen for the company SL Jacobsen & Co, in Copenhagen. Nielson was a trained engraver and silversmith and opened a silversmith's shop in Copenhagen in 1905. He mainly produced silver vessels and cutlery as well as jewelry based on his own designs. In the following years, Evald Nielsen shaped the Danish Skønvirke style (Art Nouveau).
Dimensions of the brooch: 7.6 x 4.1 cm.
Diameter of the amber cabochon: ca. 0.8 cm.
Weight: 20.0 grams.
Condition: Good historical condition, amber cabochons with traces of wear, freshly cleaned, see photos.
You will receive the brooch lovingly packaged in one of our pretty cases and with a certificate of authenticity.
Please note: Vintage or antique pieces of jewelry are worn objects that may show slight signs of wear due to their history.
