A charming vintage brooch from the Art Deco period, crafted from opal and silver (tested and guaranteed).
The unique brooch is designed to resemble a medal and consists of an ornate bar connected to a round pendant via decorative eyelets. The entire front of the piece is covered with geometric ornamentation, delicate openwork, and period-typical millegrès decoration. Small faceted silver accents frame a round, delicately shimmering opal cabochon at the center of the pendant.
The large round opal is translucent and, when caught in the light, displays its characteristic play of colors in shades of green, violet, and blue. It weighs ca. 6.0 carats and is accompanied by two faceted Verneuil spinels in light blue, which were very fashionable at the time.
On the back, the piece features a pin with a safety clasp (the pin is made of metal).
This extraordinary brooch was created around 1930 and is a charming collector’s item for all antique jewelry enthusiasts. Its craftsmanship and setting clearly point to an Art Deco era of origin, when opals were frequently used in rings, pendants, and brooches to radiate elegance, mystique, and individuality.
