Beautiful historical suffragette necklace with amethyst, peridot and seed pearls, crafted from yellow gold 625 / 15 ct (stamped and guaranteed).
An intertwined centrepiece set with fine seed pearls is attached to a delicate anchor chain, which is also accentuated with a beautiful oval faceted peridot of ca. 1.1 carat. A pendant with a pear-cut amethyst of ca. 5.0 carats completes the contemporary design
In addition to its filigree shape, the piece of jewellery also conveys a very special symbolism: the colours of the gemstones are to be understood as a political statement and were the identifying symbol of a women's movement, the so-called suffragettes. The motto of the suffragettes was "give women vote", for which the initial letters of the colours "green, white and violet" stand.
The necklace was created around 1905 and speaks the graceful language of Art Nouveau and is a historical witness to one of the most famous women's movements.
