Description
Gorgeous antique ring / engagement ring from the late rococo period, worked in rose gold 585 / 14 ct (tested and guaranteed) and set with sparkling diamonds.
The round, flower-shaped ring head is set in the centre with a large table-cut diamond, framed by a wreath of four more table-cut diamonds and six sparkling rose and rose sparkle diamonds. The diamonds have a stone weight of approx. 1.1 carat and are set in typical silver settings, which should enhance their brilliance. In addition, the precious stones are foiled; a popular design element in jewellery manufacture since the late Gothic period, in which a wafer-thin foil of copper, silver or tin was placed between the setting and the stone to make it look even more alive from below.
The various forms of contemporary diamond processing are also beautifully displayed here. While the table cut was developed from the natural octahedron shape of the rough diamond, the more elaborate rose cut was only created through improved diamond cutting techniques and the discovery of the cleavability of rough diamonds in the middle of the 16th century.
The very rare historical ring was made around 1780 and shows excellently the preference for diamond jewellery at that time, which was influenced by courtly models.
Today it is a unique collector's item, which can also be given away as an engagement ring.
