Anhänger & Medaillons
High-quality pendants are among the most versatile pieces of jewelry, as they can be combined for numerous occasions and styles. If you combine them with another necklace or a silk ribbon, you can instantly conjure up a new look. It is not uncommon for antique pendants in particular to have a brooch on the back, which allows them to be worn in a completely new way. Find out more
The perfect choice for any occasion
Pendants and lockets often have personal sentimental value for the person wearing them. This is due to the original function of these pieces of jewelry: they were worn as amulets or talismans to which protective functions were attributed. The cross has also been used as a jewelry pendant for many centuries. However, it developed from a purely religious symbol into a decorative fashion accessory towards the end of the 20th century at the latest.
Pendants: timeless, versatile and highly individual
A pendant is always an expression of personal style. It reflects your own aesthetic, sometimes represents hobbies and interests and at the same time offers great flexibility, as it can be worn on different chains. Either you stay true to the color family of the pendant and create a monochrome look or you decide to play with material and color contrasts.
The protective function of pendants and medallions still applies today. The shape or the symbolism depicted on a pendant can refer to a certain world view or specific beliefs and reflect membership of a particular group.
The setting of the piece of jewelry can also play an important role. You can either choose freely according to your color preferences or you can select the matching pendant according to your personal birthstone, for example.
Lockets: wearable memories
Lockets were traditionally used to store locks of hair, miniatures or other mementos of a loved one. The piece of jewelry is therefore hinged so that the treasures sitting in frames remain hidden from the outside world.
The invention of photography in the 19th century made it possible to carry the direct image of a loved one close to the heart. This tradition still lives on today and is often complemented by a personal engraving on the locket. The result is an unmistakable piece of jewelry that will remind you of a very special connection even decades later.
Pendants and medallions from different eras
Antique pendants offer a glimpse into earlier times and at the same time present the full range of past styles and techniques. Sometimes even entire ensembles, known as parures, consisting of pendants, bracelets and earrings that are perfectly coordinated have been preserved.
Biedermeier
During the Biedermeier period, pendants and lockets were particularly popular as sentimental keepsakes. In addition to foam gold and silver, colored stones and cameos were also used. Nature motifs and lovely floral decorations are particularly effective on jewelry from this period.
Historicism and Belle Époque
Jewelry from the historicism period is characterized by a variety of influences from the past, such as classical antiquity, Gothic and Renaissance or Rococo. Popular pendant motifs include cameos with mythological depictions or deities. Yellow gold, pearls and a wide range of colored stones dominate the designs of this period.
In contrast, the necklaces of the Belle Époque preferred sparkling diamonds, which were used in delicate designs with flower and bow decorations in the “Garland style”.
The first half of the 20th century
Pendants and medallions from the “Golden Twenties” captivate with their expressive color contrasts and visible geometric influences. Art Deco produced luxurious designs of cool elegance. Gemstones such as jade and onyx are extremely popular and are used to create opulent pendants that sit on long sautoirs.
Vintage: 50s, 60s and 70s
Mid-century jewelry pieces can hardly be described in one sentence, their influences and designs are too diverse. What they all have in common, however, is the pursuit of expressive shapes and structures. Understatement is a foreign word. In the Fifties, sophisticated designs were primarily created in yellow gold and complemented with precious colored stones. The 1960s and 1970s, on the other hand, were also devoted to eccentric statement jewelry made of silver.

Medallions and pendants are a timeless form of jewelry that offers a wide range of styles, from statement pendants that add instant sophistication to any outfit to understated, classic pendants in gold or silver to suit every taste.
