Sparkling historical girandol garnet pendant from Bohemia, crafted from gold-plated tombac (tested and guaranteed).
The beautiful and large pendant consists of a bow motif with a flower in the centre and a large rosette motif that hangs freely from the bow. The rosette is oval in shape and rises in a staircase to a larger oval-cut garnet in the centre. Three drop-shaped garnets finish at the lower end and take up the movement of the rosette.
The pendant is set entirely with wine-red table-cut garnets, whose deep red harmonises perfectly with the gleaming gold tombac settings.
The term girandole refers to the opulent design of the pendant with three swinging suspensions. This shape, which is also alternatively known as a ‘chandelier’, came into fashion in 17th century court jewellery in France and Spain and was very popular throughout Europe until the 19th century due to its elegant shape.
