Width of the necklace: ca. 1.3 - 2.0 cm.
Description
Heavy design statement necklace with amethysts, crafted from 970 silver (stamped, signed and guaranteed).
The solid, heavy chain consists of alternating rectangular and round links that are attached to each other with hinges. Recesses and small elements reminiscent of meander patterns create a strictly geometric pattern that is reminiscent of traditional Mexican décor but also embodies the typical look of the 1960s. The centre section of the necklace is also set with six round faceted amethysts totalling ca. 8.0 carats.
The necklace is fastened with a simple push-button clasp.
The necklace was created around 1960 in the Los Ballesteros workshop, which was founded by Jalil Majul Ballesteros in Iguala, Mexico, in 1937. In the 1950s, the business was transferred to smaller family workshops in the Taxco area and the pieces were labelled "Talleres de los Ballesteros".
The necklace is part of a set of ear clips and bracelet with the item numbers 202412595 and 202412594 respectively, but is also a stylish statement piece when worn on its own.
Length of the necklace: ca. 44.5 cm.
Width: ca. 1.3 - 2.0 cm.
Diameter of the amethysts: approx. 6.7 mm, totalling ca. 8.0 ct.
Weight: 160.5 grams.
