The sautoir – an explanation of the term

The term sautoir comes from the French and means „long necklace“. In terms of style history, however, there is more to it: sautoirs were particularly popular at the time of the Art Déco (1920-1930) and were often worn in several rows up to the waist. Necklaces of this type are often made without a clasp so that they can be worn twice or even several times around the neck. The charm of a sautoir is therefore also based on the numerous possibilities that this piece of jewellery offers.

Modern or classic

One particularly appealing feature of long necklaces is their ability to complement both casual and formal looks. A simple T-shirt can be complemented just as well with a long chain as a business outfit or an elegant evening dress. A low neckline can also be skilfully accentuated with a necklace of the appropriate length.

This flexibility makes it possible to experiment with different styles and add a personal touch to your own look.

Make it personal!

A long necklace can also always be combined with various pendants or charms. Large pendants and medallions, a plaque with individual engraving or a combination of beautifully set beads and coloured stones are just a few examples. Creative combinations turn a sautoir into much more than a purely decorative accessory.
