Description
Historical micromosaic brooch depicting St Mark's Square in Venice, crafted from gold-plated silver (tested and guaranteed).
The round brooch has a bezel setting made of gold-plated silver and is designed in a cord wire look. The setting contains an onyx disc with polychrome micromosaic inlay. It shows a view of St Mark's Square in Venice, with its famous historical monuments. The Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana, the Campanile, the Palazzo Ducale, the Basilica di San Marco and a column, probably the one with the city saint San Marco in the form of a winged lion, can be seen.
It is both amusing and nostalgic that a single swimmer can still be seen in the sea, swimming his laps against this backdrop.
The pretty brooch was created in Italy around 1860 and was probably once a souvenir from a study trip, a so-called Grand Tour, to Italian art sites.
Diameter of the brooch: 2.9 cm.
Diameter of the onyx disc: 2.2 cm.
Diameter of the mosaic: 1.6 cm.
Weight: 8.2 grams.
Condition: Beautiful historical condition, all stones preserved, freshly cleaned, see photos.
You will receive the brooch lovingly packaged in one of our pretty cases and with a certificate of authenticity.
