Description
Rare Aksel Holmsen design bracelet with enamel decoration, crafted from gold-plated silver (signed, stamped with Swedish hallmarks and guaranteed).
This particularly beautiful bracelet consists of seven openwork quatrefoil links, each centred with a white enamel square. The links are movably connected to each other and accentuated by black enamel on the outer edge. Delicate floral decoration in gold-plated silver in the centre and on the edges of each bracelet link provides a beautiful contrast to the elegant black and white enamel overlays.
The bracelet can be closed securely and easily with a hidden box clasp with a safety lock.
This rare enamel bracelet was created around 1950 by Aksel Holmsen from Norway, whose career began in 1904 with the opening of a studio in Sandefjord. Prior to that, Holmsen had worked for a time in the studio of the famous silversmith David Andersen in Oslo. Thanks to his craftsmanship and business acumen, Holmsen became a well-known and respected supplier of enamel and silver jewellery worldwide. His designs range from traditional Norwegian motifs and filigree work to bold modernist designs. Holmsen's creations set standards that many of his contemporaries followed.
Dimensions of the bracelet: 21.5 x 2.6 cm.
Weight: 42.6 grams.
Condition: Very good condition, freshly cleaned, see photos.
The bracelet comes lovingly packaged in one of our pretty cases and with a certificate of authenticity.
