Description
Sensational antique brooch in yellow gold 585 / 14 Kt (tested and guaranteed) and genuine Italian Sciaccia coral from Sicily. The imposing brooch is made in the shape of a plastic vine, whose grapes are made of differently sized, polished coral pearls. The vine leaves are also made of finely cut coral. Between them sits a cute little insect of yellow gold, whose body is covered with tiny seed pearls. The brochure on the back is based on a branch and has a simple needling with C-hooks.
The breathtaking brooch was created around 1880 and is not only a sought-after collector's item because of its size and exquisite finish, but also because of the processed coral: The light red to orange Sciacca coral is named after its deposit off Sicily and was discovered around 1875. Until 1915, it was extremely popular, which meant that its natural deposits were quickly depleted and Sciacca coral jewellery objects are still in great demand and highly valued today.
Dimensions of the brooch: 6,4 x 5,6 cm.
Diameter of the coral beads: approx. 3.8 - 7.5 mm.
Width of coral leaves: approx. 11.9 - 20.8 mm.
