Description
Wonderful, highly oval cameo pendant whose finely cut mussel mix shows a maenad in antique profile to the right. The maenad is portrayed as the mythical companion of the Dionysian trains with its typical attribute, the wreath of wine, artfully draped in her hair.
The first-class cut cameo captivates with artistic undercuts and fine lines that exquisitely support the materiality of the translucent shell cameo. The cameo sits in a corded frame of rosé gold-plated silver (tested and guaranteed) which harmoniously underlines the play of colours in delicate beige and rosé tones.
The pendant was made in England at the time of Queen Victoria around 1870. The massive eyelet is made of rose gold plated sterling silver (stamped and guaranteed) and a later addition.
The wonderful mussel cameo pendant with its maenad representation is an exquisite historical highlight, which can be combined with classic elegant outfits as well as stylish and modern interpreted.
Dimensions (incl. eyelet): 5.9 x 3.8 cm.
Dimensions of the mussel mix: approx. 3.9 x 3.2 cm.
Weight: 17.5 grams.
Condition: The cameo is beautifully preserved, no stress lines or cracks, immediately wearable, freshly cleaned, see photos.
