Description
Historic Biedermeier choker necklace made of silver and foam gold (tested and guaranteed).
Nine rows of pea chains end in an opulent decorative clasp made of foam gold, which is designed in a typically contemporary, curved and florally decorated cartouche shape. The clasp has a white glass flow overlay in the centre with a small star motif with a seed pearl.
Foam gold was often used in the 19th century to make jewellery more cost-effectively. In this technique, pieces of jewellery were pressed into shape by machine from thinly rolled sheet gold. The inside of these objects was therefore hollow and was filled with putty to stabilise it, making the jewellery very light and comfortable to wear.
The richly decorated clasp can be opened and closed securely and conveniently from one side.
This historical piece of jewellery was created in Munich around 1860 and is an authentic companion from the Biedermeier period and can be worn today as a perfect complement to traditional costumes and dirndls.
