Finest historical shell cameo brooch with pendant eyelet, crafted from yellow gold 585 / 14 ct (tested and guaranteed).
The cameo set in gold bears an image of the goddess Hera, one of the twelve Olympians, sister and wife of Zeus and daughter of Cronus and Rhea. The goddess is depicted with her characteristic hairstyle - her hair gathered upwards with a hairband - looking strictly and majestically in profile to the right.
The cameo sits in a bezel setting, which is surrounded by a gold spiral frame.
A pin on the back with a C-hook clasp allows the brooch to be attached to clothing. It can also be worn as a pendant with an eyelet.
This antique piece of jewelry was created around 1880 and is a wonderful example of the reception of antiquity in historicism. The pendant is sold without a chain; we would be happy to advise you on a matching chain from our range.
